| Oversized Cargo / Clearances / Rigging |
|
 |
| When rail is not an option (due
to width or height) special multi axle truck transporters are
used to move large cargo items. Often securing the necessary
state clearances requires meetings with the carrier, supplier,
various state officials, and a route survey and with the public
utilities (moving electric / telephone lines). We provide these
services, along with associated services such as providing cranes
for both loading and unloading the equipment. We have also been
responsible for the rigging of the equipment where the final
scope of work is placement on a foundation or delivered to an
exact location. Being non-asset based, we select a qualified
bidding panel for these services and provide all technical and
commercial information to our client for final review. |

 |
| The transportation of cargo via
the railroad network is a complicated mode of transportation
when shipping items that are either too large or too heavy to
transport via truck. We work with both the client and the supplier
in reviewing all parameters when this alternative answers our
needs. After a detailed review of all drawings, we work with
the railroad in securing over dimensional clearances; the selections
of the type of railcar required and determine the loading and
lashing requirements to safely transport this equipment. Rate
negotiations as well as making arrangements for loading and unloading
of this cargo are included in our scope of work. |

 |
| Often due to the size of the cargo,
transportation by either rail or truck is not feasible. If conditions
permit, arrangements can be made using a barge as the main mode
of transport. This entails not only reviewing barge options (commercial
& technical), but involves working with state agencies in
clearance of this movement, route surveys, identifying loading
and unloading options, lashing / securing as well as final delivery
operations. Long Beach Logistics has performed these operations
in many different areas. |

| Multi-Mode Transportation |
|
|
|
| In reviewing all options regarding
the transportation of excessive dimensional cargo, the use of
various modes of transportation is required to meet your needs.
There are times we can improve on transportation costs and delivery
schedules by using a combination of barge and rail as well as
rail and truck combinations. Although compounded with handling
costs, these combinations often prove to be a cost effective
and efficient method in answering delivery requirements. |
